Chrysotile Lost Mining City Off-Roading Tour

Discover the Lost Mining City of Chrysotile on a 3‑hour guided off‑road tour through Ash Creek Canyon. This small‑group adventure travels by 6‑seat off‑road vehicle past historic buildings, mine sites, and canyon viewpoints, giving you a full overview of the area’s mining past and rugged landscape. Along the way, you’ll see former miners’ barracks, the mess hall, superintendent’s home, manager duplex, jailhouse, school, and post office, as well as multiple mine entrances and a scenic waterfall and creek bottom. We can accommodate up to 25 guests per time slot, with tours departing at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily.

What to Expect on This Off‑Road Tour

This Chrysotile off‑road tour combines canyon driving, light walking, and plenty of stops for photos and stories. You’ll ride as a passenger while your guide drives the off‑road vehicles along canyon roads and trails, stopping at key historic buildings and viewpoints. At several spots, you’ll briefly walk into mine entrances just a few hundred feet for a shallow look inside, then return to the surface. Later in the tour, you’ll hike down to a waterfall and creek bottom to experience the water and canyon walls up close.
